Assisting The Blue Penguin Trust

Fiordland Coast Walks has recently taken up an opportunity to assist The Blue Penguin Trust with its annual survey on 22nd – 26th August.

Understanding and appreciating the flora and fauna of the Westland  and Fiordland coastlines is central to our business. Blue penguins are found right along the coastline although they can be difficult to see due to their nocturnal habits, unlike the Fiordland crested penguins which are often encountered. The census survey takes place each of the set days at dawn, which is a magic time of the day for walking along the beaches and shoreline of  Westland. We are looking forward to it.
